CHURCH NEWS

Road to Renewal
As you know, the Diocese has been working on the Road to Renewal for many months, creating a collaborative system whereby parishes can work together toward a common goal. There will be no closing of parishes! We will maintain our separate identities, parish councils, finance councils, etc. The timetable for implementation has been accelerated, and we were scheduled to begin the “Activation Stage” for our Family of Parishes on November first. However, our Activation Stage will be delayed until Bishop Mike consults with a committee of priests who had some concerns. Bishop Mike and the Renewal Team are committed to listening to everyone’s concerns and working cooperatively to determine the next steps. Once the Activation Stage begins, we will be meeting and exchanging ideas with our Family of five parishes – Immaculate Conception, East Aurora; Annunciation, Elma; St. George, West Falls; St. Vincent de Paul, Springbrook; and St. Joeseph, Holland – for a period of six months. We have the opportunity to be directly involved in the decision making about how we would like our Family to operate.

During the Activation Stage, each parish will have two delegates to represent different ministries within the parish. These are called the six Pillars that make up the church.

Liturgy – Mass schedules, sacrament schedules, liturgy committees
Spiritual Life – Sacramental preparation, retreats, RCIA
Forming Disciples – Religious education, youth ministry, adult faith formation
Outreach/Inreach – Ministry to those who are suffering, empowering parishioners, developing a culture of welcome
Stewardship – Volunteers, Family, and parish hospitality
Administration – Human resources, finances, budgeting, office

Your thoughts, ideas, and skills are needed to ensure the successful launch of our Family. As one of the smaller parishes in the family it is very important that we are represented in the planning stage. Please consider joining one of these Pillar Groups. As a church, we are experiencing a critical shortage of priests. It is time for us to get involved and keep our parish vibrant and engaged with each other here at St. Joes and with our fellow Catholics in the Family.

Please visit the website roadtorenewal.org for more information, or feel free to contact our parish Road to Renewal representatives, Becky Bartels and Nikera Kolacki, with any questions or concerns.

Together we are One, Holy, Catholic, and Apostolic Church. St. Joseph, protector of the Holy Family, pray for us.
